The Buildings
The Retreat building is the east barn, the larger barn to the right on the banner photo at the top of the page. This has been converted, insulated, and fitted with underfloor heating, all in full compliance with modern building regulations.
The other buildings are occupied by the owners, though most often during your stay only one quiet owner will remain on site and will not intrude on your occupation. An owner remaining on site means that any minor problems that may arise can be dealt with promptly and you will have someone available to contact in the event of difficulties or queries.
The upper floor is dedicated to four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Downstairs there is an accessible bedroom, three more bathrooms, a large well-equipped kitchen-diner, and also a utility room.
Viewing
If you would find it helpful to view the property prior to committing to a booking just ask. We deliberately do not run the retreat at full occupancy so it is likely that we can identify a period when the property is vacant for viewing that will coincide with your availability to visit.
Beds and Bedrooms
We have 26 beds over 5 bedrooms/dormitories. Of course you do not have to bring 26 people and bringing a smaller party will make it more spacious for you. We can accept any size group from one person up to 26, but the hire rate is fixed as a rate for the whole property rather than a per person rate.
Downstairs there is an accessible bedroom, with a nearby accessible wetroom.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms/dormitories. The layout of each is similar but they vary in size.
We supply bedsheets, pillow and pillow case, duvet (10.5 Tog) and duvet cover. We do not supply towels so please bring your own.
Accessible Bedroom
Downstairs we have an accessible bedroom, which can also be used by able-bodied members of your party, which has two single beds. (If a disabled person needs more space around their bed then one of these beds can be dismantled and removed - please let us know in advance).
Adjacent to this room (but not en-suite) is an accessible wetroom. If the details of our accessible facilities are important to you please check with us before booking.
Upstairs Bedrooms
Two upstairs rooms each have six bed-spaces, comprised of two bunk beds and two single beds, and also a washbasin.
One upstairs room has seven bed-spaces, comprised of three bunk beds and one single bed, and also a washbasin.
One upstairs room has five bed-spaces, comprised of two bunk beds and one single bed, and also a washbasin.
Bathrooms
We have six bathrooms, three upstairs and three downstairs, with total six toilets and five showers. Handy for when a larger group all want showers soon after returning from outdoor activities.

Downstairs one room is an accessible wetroom, with wheelchair accessible toilet, shower, and washbasin, all with grab bars. Contact us for details so as to ensure it will meet your needs, if this facility is critical for you

Kitchen-Diner
We have a large well-equipped kitchen-diner. It can seat 26 people if you bring a large group but will be more spacious for a smaller group. Current equipment (subject to change) includes:
Two Bosch double-ovens
Large 5-ring induction hob (900mm wide), with large extractor hood
Tall domestic fridge-freezer
16 place-setting dishwasher
32 litre microwave
4-slice toaster
Qettle boiling water tap, and a kettle
Plenty of large cooking pots and pans, with ample serving bowls, crockery and cutlery
Utility Room
This contains:
washing machine
an airing rack
a dehumidifier
a cleaner's bucket sink with buckets and mops
large and small brushes, dustpans etc.
Useful if you return wet and/or muddy after outdoor activities.
EV Charger
We have an EV charger, Zappi 7kW with Type 2 tethered cable, which you may use subject to availability and the terms of our EV Charger policy.
Internet connection
We have an Internet connection which you may use subject to our terms and conditions.
As a rural property we do not have fibre nor even copper connection but rely on a long-distance Wi-Fi link relayed via a neighbouring farm. It is generally reasonably stable but we cannot guarantee its availability nor its performance.
